A yarn swift, like the Amish design I guess. Mine has a nylon wheel in it for the arm rotation movement. Made of 2x4s for the base and 1x2s for the arms. Dowels at 1.5” apart allow for different size yarn skeins to be used.
I just sanded it and left it plain. To be stained and poly coated at a different point, or just left as the warm natural wood. When sitting in it’s base it has a slight angle to the rotation. That low point is a good place to take yarn from so it wont get stuck on the arms.
